Can you give me an overview of the process?

Use these five steps to create and promote successful public events on behalf of your office or department:

  • Define Your Audience
Identify who you want to attend and tailor your event accordingly.
  • Request a Room and Create Your Event
Secure a space on campus and finalize event logistics.
  • Describe Your Event
Craft a clear and engaging description to inform and attract attendees.
  • Promote Your Event
Utilize tools like the public calendar, social media, and email to spread the word.
  • Evaluate Your Event
Collect feedback to measure success and improve future events.

When should I reach out to College Comms?

College Communications offers additional support for certain events. Reach out if your event falls into one of the following categories:

  • Named Lectures & Major College Events
  • Lectures organized by the Public Lectures Committee
  • Major events such as Convocations, Commencement, and Orientation
  • Office & Departmental Events
  • Assistance with the public calendar, college website, or event photography
  • Media & News Coverage

What if my event is newsworthy?

If your event features a prominent speaker or is of wide interest to internal and external audiences, submit a story idea for consideration.
