Requesting a Domain Name (DNS) or Subdomain URL

A formal request is required for site owners who would like their website, SaaS service, application or Short.io links to have a DNS name that contains “.davidson.edu.”

Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may be granted based on the following naming conventions and criteria:

  • DNS names represent the college and should reflect a college service, function, application, etc.
  • Names must be made in the best interest of the college, and must not be offensive in any way
  • Name requests will be refused if deemed inappropriate, or may cause confusion, or create conflicts
  • Names should be intuitive, specific and connected to the purpose of the subdomain
  • The website, SaaS or application has been formally approved and complies with Terms of Use, including minimal accessibility standards.

If you have any questions about this form please contact College Communications Digital Staff at digitalstaff@davidson.edu.

If the DNS name is approved, the request will be routed to the T&I Infrastructure Team.
